6. Be Wary of Caffeine and Sugar

Caffeinated and sugary beverages are the go-to for people suffering from lack of sleep and tight schedules. However, while these beverages may not be all that filling, they sure can add to your weight gain.

They can also have detrimental effects on your overall health and wellness. Both sugar and caffeine tend to give you great energy boosts. However, you can find yourself crashing and losing energy instantly during your busy day.

So, try to scale back on sugar and caffeine a bit. This will help you stay in tip-top shape and avoid crashing during class time or rotations.

7. Never Overeat

While studying to be a doctor, you may not always use the best judgment when it comes to eating. Always being on-the-go doesn’t leave a lot of time to savor healthy meals.

So, when the chance arises to sit down and have a good one, there’s a chance you may overeat.

To avoid that, keep track of how much you’re eating. Otherwise, there’s a strong chance of suffering from fatigue and other health-related issues that affect how you manage your workload.

Planning your daily meals ahead of time is your best bet. This eliminates the desire to stop at the nearest fast food restaurant and fill up on unhealthy junk food.

8. Multi-Vitamins Help

As a busy med student, your diet most likely isn’t up to par. You’re probably not getting the adequate nutrition needed to get through your many tasks and rotations.

If you’re suffering from malnutrition or any type of deficiency, include a multivitamin in your diet. They are helpful for curbing fatigue, especially during cold and flu season.

As a medical student, you work hard to achieve your goal of becoming a doctor. Therefore, you deserve a break and a treat now and then.

Enjoying a sweet treat every once in a while is fine (emphasis on once in a while). Just make sure that’s not the only food you consume during the course of your busy day.

Remember, on your road to becoming a physician, you’re considered a role model to your patients. It’s a bit hard to recommend a healthy diet to patients with strawberry jelly all over your white coat.

10. Keep Your Diet Balanced

You need to change up your diet to maintain healthy nutrition. Make sure not to get stuck in the rut of eating the same old thing every day. Too much of anything is bad for your health. And the lack of a balanced diet is guaranteed to keep you feeling fatigued.
