What MedSmarter‘s ACLS Training Course Covers

ACLS Electrocardiogram Interpretation

Providing ACLS services to a patient usually begins with using a manual defibrillator to monitor the heart rhythm. Next, you insert IV lines and put necessary airway devices in place, like an endotracheal tube. Then, ACLS drugs are administered.

After thorough assessment, other treatments are performed, which may be medical or surgical.

ACLS Guidelines

Learn the mandatory guidelines through American Heart Association ACLS live courses provided by qualified healthcare specialists.

Also referred to as the Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Guidelines, they are reviewed every five years by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation and the American Heart Association. Updated educational materials and recommendations are published after each review.

ACLS Algorithms

Currently, the ACLS guidelines have various algorithm groups. Each algorithm is a set of instructions used to keep treatment standardized in America across the board. This increases the effectiveness of ACLS techniques. These algorithms must be memorized for certification and renewal.

These are some of the current algorithms for certification in the United States:

  • Acute Coronary Syndromes Algorithm
  • Bradycardia Algorithm
  • Cardiac Arrest Algorithm
  • Opioid Emergency Algorithm
  • Post-Cardiac Arrest Algorithm
  • Pulseless Electrical Activity (PEA)/Asystole Algorithm
  • Respiratory Arrest Algorithm
  • Suspected Stroke Algorithm
  • Tachycardia Algorithms
  • Ventricular Fibrillation (VF)/Pulseless
  • Ventricular Tachycardia (VT) Algorithm

“Excellent, well thought out and well designed. This is a MUST-HAVE review program for anyone aspiring for USMLE.  Being a part of this program was most definitely a breath of fresh air.  It was not only the best prep program I have ever attended, but was also incredibly helpful in expanding my intellect.  What makes this program so unique and special is its personalized and structured approach, which let me explore my weaknesses and strengthen the same.  The instructors (Dr. Untara and Dr. Owen) were very patient and encouraging throughout, making it an incredible learning experience. Looking forward to coming back for my Step 2 classes. “
